FN-FORUM: Hit counters

I'm doing a freebie for a charitable appeal (domain problems posting
yesterday) and they would like a hit counter to count visits to the home
page, but not be viewable by site visitors.

Any thoughts gratefully accepted, or pointers to idiot-proof step-by-step
sites. While I'm happy enough working in Fireworks/Dreamweaver, I don't have
experience of server-side stuff...
