An easier way to make just your own styles available would be to make sure
that you are saving changes to your template, not normal.dot in Tools,
Customize, then remove style list from formatting tool...

Yes I think you're most likely right, they definitely were not there in the
pull-down list, but now they are. Even when I sent them...
