Hi Richard,
There are posible problems you may in-counter...
1... Will the new motherboard fit in your old Tower.
2... Will the graphic card fit on the motherboard, their are 3 types.
3... You need the correct Ram to use with the motherboard.
4... Is the power supply strong enough in watts to cope with todays
power consumption. Personally I use 550watts but anything over 400 watts
is needed in my opinion. Bought PC's tend to have 300 watts and older
ones tended to have 220watts or less.
My suggestion is buy a new tower case with a PSU (many don't have them
fitted) and possible new Ram.

Motherboard & CPU £200 (3.2 Pentium)
Tower & PSU £60
Memory £70 (1GB)
Motherboards come with sound and lan cards built in
