I've just reviewed VMWare Workstation 5 for IT Reviews:

Make sure you get that version. I tested it on Linux and Win XP, but it
ease of installation is what you're after, got for VMWare running on XP,
since it's easier to configure network settings, and you don't need to
do work everytime you upgrade your kernel.
