FN-FORUM: Video clip advice needed please
date posted 14th June 2005 11:32
I need to add a small downloadable (not streaming) video clip to a site
I have built that can be played on a pc/mac using windows media player,
quicktime etc. I have been experimenting with various formats (wmv, avi,
mpeg etc) and have come to the conclusion that for accessibility reasons
the file should be in mpeg-1 format but this gives me a much larger
file than say if it was wmv (5Mb as opposed to 1Mb for the clip I
want). I can't reduce the file size of the mpeg-1 as it depends on the
length in time and bitrate which can't be reduced for mpeg-1.
The alternative is to provide a couple of files of the same clip in
different formats eg wmv and mov. I would be happy if I could please pc
and mac users.
I am using an old version of premiere (outputs avi only) and freeware
and don't want to have to buy anymore software as I think this will be a
one off.
Has anyone got any opinions or other ideas ?
Thanks
Steve Gibson
