Will look into that but not sure that it would affect my problem much since
I use the test socket anyway.

Raymond,
I have been told that you can ask a BT engineer to fit a 'NTE5
Baseplate' to your line, just as it enters your house. Once this is
fitted you don't need any further filters.
It's supposed to be the way to go.
