RE: FN-FORUM: Intellectual Property

I had a similar situation with a client that I'd previously contracted =
at via an agency. tHEn about 15 months after that (so out of the usual =
tie-in phase) they contracted me to develop some software for the =
purposed of scanning & indexing large quantities of paper data. Total =
price for the development was about =A320K if memory serves and at the =
end they wanted me to do a bit of extra work and some training / =
hand-over of the software. I pointed out at this point that they didn't' =
actually own the rights to the software as there was no mention of it =
within the contract (fixed price direct B2B). A slight panic ensued - I =
wasn't trying to get any more money out of them other than for the =
training etc., so we wrapped it all up in another payment that included =
the training and a handover of the IPR / copyright of the code.=20
It brought it to my attention if nothing else and it now lives in my =
standard T&C that I own everything unless agreed otherwise.
Cheers
Andy
