I would suggest from experience this piece of software

Restorer 2000 pro from http://www.bitmart.net/

Only thing that would properly get back my files after a vary corrupted HD.

Anyone ever used any data recovery software? A client has lost *a lot*
of holiday photos from his laptop, apparently they we're there on
Monday... A google has come up with a couple of options, including this
