SMTP and IMAP. The clients are Thunderbird and the local network is =

I'm afraid you're going to hit a bit of a wall on this. Neither
InDesign nor Quark deal with footnotes. Apparently CS2 is better with
footnotes, though still not perfect, but I haven't used it enoug...
