You're right, you can't type into the autonumber column, but you should find
that you can use an append query to populate the autonumber column from your

When I create an autoNumnber field, Access does not let me change the

You can create a field containing an autonumber and then append a set of
records into that field. The autonumber will then start from the last =
record
entered.
