FN-FORUM: first message

Hi this is my first email to this group.

yeah? I haven't joined any of these email rings before.

I'm out of work at the moment, and really want to get into web design as a
career. I'm studying for the Open University certificate in Web
Applications Development which is pretty tough going! Hoping to get into
the business very soon. It seems pretty hard though. Especially when
freelancing is mainly down to word of mouth. How do you get started in the
first place?

Does anyone have any tips? Also it's quite daunting it seems it's a mainly
male dominated industry.
