If you're inclined to have the screen interface in flash, mdm's zinc
has database extensions that allow read/write to a local database
including access & mysql. INM V12 database which has done similar for
director for years, now has a flash version in beta due out soon.
Neither of these are particularly cheap if it's a one off gig though.
If the application isn't going to be processing huge amounts of data,
in flash you can use the native local shared object as a data store.
This is a quick and simple to create solution as long as you don't
need to do any complex operations on large amounts of stored data.
