Weird.

Whois states that the details were updated on 19th Oct 2004 & expires on
22nd Oct 2006. This indicates the site hasn't (or didn't) expire.

Looking at the site, the guy has a site history going back to 2004.

All indications here are that your customer has NEVER owned this domain
name. Or if he did, it was prior to 19th Oct 2004.
