Yes they are! Especially if accompanied by a separate restrictive covenant
agreement. However, they must be reasonable. Reasonable, in this context, is
generally regarded as within the locality (usually 20-50 miles) for one
year. 20 miles would be more appropriate in a centre such as Glasgow. Breach
or intended breach often meets with a court order to stop it.
