Pam
It is probably very difficult to see what is slowing your machine down.
The simplest possibility is that your disk is over-full. You should have =
at
least 15% free space on each drive (if you have more than one) and =
defrag
the drives after doing a file check.
The more complex issue is that you may have spyware running in the
background.
If you have not already done so, download and install Microsoft =
Antispyware
and the Microsoft Malicious software removal tool. Both are free.
If these do not do the trick I would suggest you do not waste any more =
time.
Back up everything, make sure you know all your login and password =
details,
then re-install Windows from scratch. I mean wipe the disk completely, =
not a
re-install in the existing directory. Then download all the Microsoft
updates. Make sure you have a virus detector installed before you =
connect to
the web, even for a few seconds.
I know it is a painful step to take and will consume much of a day, but =
you
will be amazed at how much faster your PC will run with all the garbage
cleared out.
Cheers and good luck.
Ray.
