But in theory there is no more data being passed to HSBC than would
normally be entered in an enquiry form which as standard practice does
not use SSL. No purchase details are being passed to HSBC, only the
total amount payable.
It's an interesting point for consideration - the type of information
that is passed around as standard practice without this sort of
consideration. As soon as this information, albeit the same information,
is discussed in relation to e-commerce it is considered that it should
be treated differently.
