I always figure it's best to state exactly which rights are and isn't
transferred to the client - I normally transfer copyright to the visual items
- design and logos, and things like copy used in the sites.
For code, I give a non-exclusive right to re-use and modify.
I think this is reasonable - it's their site, and their look. My code makes
it work, and they get to use it, can change it if they need to, etc; but I
retain the right to sell and re-use that code myself.
