Re: FN-FORUM: Adwords

With Google it depends how competitive the keywords you're going for =20
are, as this will affect the cost to get a high ranking.
I dread to think how much it costs to be number on on "Web Design", =20
but if you want to get on the first page of "garden centre kent" you =20
shouldn't need to pay more than a few pence per click.
In my experience the more obvious keywords don't get the results =20
you'd expect in terms of click through rates (which you need to keep =20
up or Google won't let you use the keyword). For example on one site =20=
I work for Beyonce got less than 0.1% click through rate but Lady =20
Sovereign (UK rapper) got 20%.
Obviously how well the ad is written and what it's for make a =20
difference.
It's also worth noting Google Adwords tend to help your Google =20
ranking (a tiny bit) as they'll pop up from time to time on other =20
people's sites.
Google's adwords is a good way to kick start a campaign at least. =20
You've got a guaranteed ROI with them - unlike almost any other form =20
of advertising. For =A350 you can guarantee 1000 people will visit the =20=
site. There's no other form of promotion that could do that.
Monitoring is fairly easy if you've got a good Web Stats package. =20
But at the end of the day you have to trust the company.
