Also when you open the PDF file with Illustrator you can edit all=20
objects and types to suit your layout, except you cannot modify=20
embedded image within Quark - you'll have to have the original image=20
file.
Yes, your designer is trying to make money out by a simplest process of=20=
going through an export option (make sure that she select the high res.=20=
image compression option (or whatever your final publish option;=20
screen-based, or print-based - if she says she has no idea, then you=20
might consider contacting your client saying that she's a novice in=20
Quark and you prefer to work with someone 'expert' or client to request=20=
her to supply in Illustrator format without any charges)
On a different note, (ehm) happily Quark is still in use by some=20
dedicated ones - but conversion to InDesign is fast due to=20
short-sightedness of Quark software developers... sad
