Fortunately I picked this one up before I went freelance - if you're a
programmer you pretty much have to break a job into it's smallest
components (nothing more than 2 days, ideally) work out how long each
one will take, double it and then add 25 percent onto the total time you
have come up with. That usually gets you into the right ballpark.
Then the client goes "that sounds like a long time, surely you can do it
faster" and for some reason you believe them and then it turns out to
have taken as long as you said it would and you have undercharged....
