FN-FORUM: Anyone know about licensing for gambling sites?

Hi,
Does anyone know anything about setting up gambling-based websites? I have
an idea.
. but before I get excited about it, I need to find out about licensing,
tax, and the like. I found some info on the UK government sites, but it's
all pretty complex. Before delving into it in detail, does anyone know
simple answers to these questions:

- Do I need to pay for a license to run a site that contains a
lottery/sweepstake element?
- How much tax do I pay for income from this kind of thing?
- Is there miles of red tape to jump through before this will become
practical?

If the initial answers seem favourable, I'll go into it some more.
