Could be the same. On older machines usually PCB track wear. Clean off the
board with solvent as suggested before. If it's track wear you will see it,
get a soldering iron and put some track back on.

That sounds like fun! I have a problem with my Ctrl key, which I need to
bash in order for it to work, and everyone who uses Ctrl+C and
Ctrl+V will know how anoying this is. Do you think it could eb the
same problem? I have not spilt anything on it, but bought the laptop second
hand!
