I think you're missing the part of my blog post where I wrote:
I'm going to get drummed out of the geek club for saying this, but I'm
not going to tell you not to send HTML email. I don't like HTML email.
I don't read HTML email that doesn't have a plain text version
attached. But I know a lost cause when I see one. Companies are never
going to stop sending HTML email and I'm not going to waste my breath
explaining why they should.
I understand exactly what you're saying[1]. I just think that anyone
implementing an HTML mail system for a client should ensure that the
client are well aware of the limitations of the format and the security
issues and make the decision to proceed based on that information.

[1] Well, maybe not _exactly_ as I don't know what "DM work" is :)
