RE: FN-FORUM: REQ: Database of places/timezones

Hello,
One of the best places I have found for time zone data is
http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/
Doing a quick Google search shows the public domain database for this is
linked to from http://www.twinsun.com/tz/tz-link.htm. This is an informative
site and I hope it sets you off in the right direction. There are also other
links which might be useful here too.

Subject: FN-FORUM: REQ: Database of places/timezones
Hello
Does anyone know of a database which relates places to provinces (counties,
states, etc.) to Countries and timezones? I'm looking for something
world-wide. At the very least it should cover English speaking countries
such as North America, UK and Australia. The database doesn't need to go
into minor details of postcodes and actual addresses but it must know that
there is a place called Middleton, near Manchester, in Lancashire, UK (in
GMT timezone) and that this Middleton is different to some other one. The
database doesn't need to record every hamlet, just cities, districts of
those cities and towns.
Ideally I'll be able to convert the database (to my required format), or, at
the very least, be able to use it in a .NET application. Proprietary formats
without drivers will be of no use to me.
If you can't think of a suitable database can you think a another forum
where I might get a suitable answer?
