RE: FN-FORUM: Windoze .dat file

On some occasions you can open the files if you know what program created
them, e.g. if it were a Quark file goto Open in Quark and selected All
files from the file type drop down box, then select the dat file. If it can
read it the Open dialog boxes will show you the file details such as version
file size etc. Just click Open.It doesn't work every time but when a dat
extraction program reports 'nothing to extract' this usually works.

Subject: FN-FORUM: Windoze .dat file
Hi all,
A client has e-mailed me a load of artwork and the attachment has arrived as
a .dat file. Does anyone know how to open one of these? I've been googling
for an answer but nothing I've found works (I know, obvious answer is just
to ask the client to resend data but they're not available for rest of day &
I'd like not to waste more time). TIA.
Guy.
