Re: FN-FORUM: Qualifications

I have read all your replies on this subject and I'm intreged.
Maybe I'm going down the wrong road, but not sure I am.
I have just started skills training course, not because I want a CIW, but
believe it won't do any harm, but for the fact that as someone who has been
working on websites for 6 years commercially and really from a print
background not web, that I have huge gaps in my knowledge. For instance I
couldn't remember how many bits in a byte but I know I really should, I find
that embarrasing as I understanding the workings of websites quite well and
designing them but not the gritty stuff.
It's like saying because you've learnt first aid you shouldn't need to keep
training, things move on, ideas change, safe practice changes and as one
person said within 12 months your knowledge will be out of date, so do
whatever course you think you should, because you can always learn something
new, there will always be stuff that never changes but there will be
something you forgot or something that has changed.
Do what you think is right.
Not sure if I've added to this thread or confused it.
Oh and on the qualifications thing, you do need qualifications and you do
need experiance, as I only have experiance and no qualifications I have
found that I have had to fight for everything to gain respect for my work.
And when I say qualifications no 'A' levels either, just pure determination
to understand the workings of my chosen business.

Good thread.
