RE: FN-FORUM: Qualifications
date posted 21st March 2006 16:01
I don't have any qualifications in IT at all; I originally did a degree in
Genetics which had bugger all to do with IT apart from typing up assignments
and browsing the internet. I do have to say I do still find it amusing that
some contract employers are getting to the point now where they will not
touch you unless you have a BSc in computer science and a fist full of
certifications mainly from MS, CISCO and Oracle - you cant do business
analysis and process mapping if you have not done those modules at uni ----
eh what a load of bollocks. I have seen the crap they are feeding people at
BSc and MSc level and I have to say the vast majority is simply crap which
is unfortunate really as I have met many an angry IT graduate who are a
little perplexed that they cant get work as they cant do the work and they
have to spend the next however many years trying to play catch up. Unless
you land a cushy job with a large company who will invest in your training
for the next 3 years, you will have to graft your arse off like everyone
else.
Regards
John
