Although the objective was the certification I found the real advantage
of the Microsoft courses was actually in the way they went through the
stuff that is built into the applications and libraries- the little
timesaving devices in VS.net, how to use the Index Tuning Wizards in SQL
Server some of the libraries that pack with the .net runtime. Nothing
that I couldn't have worked out for myself but quite a bit of stuff that
I might just never have realised was there at all and that has saved me
a lot of time and effort over the years.
