Always, always, always have a contract!
They're a pita to organise but worth it if anything goes wrong.

That's my point, it's a nightmare sometimes - I finished a project that had
all been signed off, THEN was dragged into pikey style negotiations and
ended up with 50% of the agreed price! :(
