RE: FN-FORUM: Antivirus and Security

Thank you all.
Well I have finally got Norton off my machine, after installing more Norton
Software to enable uninstall. I am using NOD32, very light platform and
clean install. I don't mind packages that call home, but can't stand
packages that advertise to me and steal all my resources. AVG looks good,
but I don't want to be an advertising board, most freeware tries to
advertise in my experience. I don't mind paying for antivirus, it's key to
keeping a machine free from programs that would like to damage a machine. If
I am caught using Norton again, then I am going to admit myself to a secure
hospital.
Installed CC Cleaner, neat tool, I caught the Yahoo Toolbar install, don't
want that for sure.

It doesn't install anything, AFAIK. If it pops up a reminder when you run
it, that's perfectly legit.
Anyway, best anti-spyware thing you can do is run HijackThis
*before* you have any problems, and keep the results. This will give you a
baseline to compare to if / when you do get an infection.
Actually, the best tihing you can do is rid yourself of Microsoft...
