I got the source all over, as you said Mark. Since its giving different results based upon the request, I suspect it could be something to do with request headers. Could you see your webserver logs...

As far as I have been made aware there shouldn't be an echo at all. It is down to headset and volume configs, if the person you are speaking to is using a microphone and doesn't have volume controls...
