I normally untick most of those boxes (as it happens I am
re-isntalling Winows myself this evening). Even on a decent spec
machine I resent the extra power that the shadows and fades take up
although I'd agree on the Clear type.
Also suggest:
Themes -> Windows classic (less Noddy)
Taskbar -> Rightclick -> toolbars -> quick lauch
Taskbar -> Rightclick -> properties -> and
-untick group similar
-untick hide inactive
Make the start menu 'classic' and under customise, "expand control
panel", "display administrative tools" and "use small icons"
"Windows key" & E (windows explorer) -> tools -> folder options -> view:
Untick "Hide extensions for known file types"
Of course these all depend upon personal preference etc etc
Cheers
