I managed to find a "Sponsoring Registrar" of Wild West Domains, Inc.
(http://www.wildwestdomains.com/) which look very much like a GoDaddy clone
... And when I checked the GoDaddy site I found they are owned by them!

Maybe the domain is registered with WWD and they may be able to help? They
normally provide control panel logins once you prove ownership (had to do
this with one of my clients with them).
