FN-FORUM: Windows Server Workgroup

date posted 1st July 2006 20:51

As a follow on my KVM question (thanks for the responses) I am now trying to
configure to Small Business Server. I have gone through the install and my
server configured itself as a domain controller.

I have a router which assigned DNCP addresses and the server is a Peer to
Peer network node. So the SMB server should take it's address dynamically or
fixed within a defined range of addresses.

I would prefer it to be part of a Workgroup, and can't figure out how to
change it to a workgroup PC, that's my first problem.

I want to PC's to connect to the server by remote access (DSL) and run 2x
applications on the server using Terminal Services. This one is totally
alien to me, so advice would be really helpful on this point.

I would also like to use Remote Desktop as suggested in the KVM responses,
so advice would be useful. My PC's are all the same internal network and
IP's are assigned by the router. So only Remote Access by DSL that will
cause complications.

Could do with a few pointers, Microsoft manuals always assume you know the
answer before you start.
