In total I reckon I have wasted around a week of my time investing in

Well obviously they're under the (semi-logical) assumption that newer
must last longer, which isn't always the case. Granted, it's
definitely possible, but it depends on the quality of the components...

it's not php/mysql based (based on cgi scripts.) but it's free and very
