FN-FORUM: Website Video Help

Just building a website (HTML) for a client.

They have now asked for a video to be viewable/downloadable on the site.

They have provided a 1 minute AVI file which is 5Mb in size.

Does anyone have any advice as to whether this should be just linked to
on the site (from what I can gather my host does not support streamed
videos).

Also, is this length/size acceptable, or should I be looking to change
to format to make it smaller. If so any advice over format conversion
software would be appreciated as what I have searched for on the net
either costs a lot or seems to be riddled with adware/spyware etc.

As it's quite a budget project for the client, I'm not really looking to
spend any money on software etc as it would likely be a 1 off.

Any advice would be much appreciated.
