Chris,
Is it a single file that you're hosting?
How many downloads do you expect of it?
Is it something that could be streamed instead of downloaded, or does
it need to be repeatedly viewed?
FLV conversion is very popular at the moment. The quality can be
quite good depending on the settings, and it can usually get a file
down to about a tenth of the size. The added bonus is you can just
embed it as a flash file too, as long as their browser(s) support it.
