RE: FN-FORUM: New Freelancer - Help or adviced required

Mike,
In the past, I've just asked the client to 'officially' sign off =
something
(be it script, interface design, specification, beta version or finished
solution). As long as they've said in an email that "they sign off =
blah,
blah", that's as good as a signature on a form (as far as I'm =
concerned).
State why they have to sign it off though, and what the implications are =
if
they go back on that. I tend to put "this may incur additional =
charges", as
if it's only a minor change, I'll let them have it, but I'm covered for =
big
changes.
Alternatively, you could just create a form you post to them or fax (or
email a PDF), which has your letterhead, project information, signoff
information (what it is they're signing off, what the implications are =
of
this, etc) and a box for their name in print and signature.
Although either way, you're not 100% covered from the client getting =
arsey,
but you can only do your best to protect yourself!
Hope this is helpful.

Hi carrie,
You scared me with the crazy lady rant for a second, but then I cottoned =
on
to what you were talking about and it's cool!
Thanks very much for the feedback and, in a great sense, very very =
helpful.
Could I ask a quick question...what format should a sign-off sheet look
like? How should I compose a contract? When should I charge, etc?
I'm so na=EFve and scared right now :o)
Regards
Mike
