RE: FN-FORUM: Site Check
date posted 11th October 2006 09:35
Thanks for the feedback - the way I see it I need to stop using VS.NET to
build my pages - I started off with good intentions, but it chucks all the
spans so I think I have a bit to do to get it se friendly yet. You have made
some great points - thanks.
Hi,
The site looks cool. You gotta a nice colour scheme, simple layout and easy
to digest info. I love the round-cornered bevel boxes. Users will 'enjoy'
visiting your site.
A few pointers:
Logo: Try moving the arrow so it's not touching the letters in 'computer'..
maybe making the arrow more spaced out.
Text: Try incorporating some rollover colour changes on your links. Also, in
firefox, the text in the big box is a little close to the left edge. Not
sure why there's the big difference with ie.
Boxes: Try aligning the top of the menu box with the top of the content box.
Adsense ads: Lose 'em. They won't bring you that much cash and they scream
'tacky'. Maybe I'm being a bit harsh (personal bias). Try it for a few
months, if it's not bringing much revenue, explore the possibility of
removing it and check the change to your conversation rate.
Code: You've probably got too many spans in there. Try simplifying the
layout to only CSS or tables, not both. Preferably only CSS.
SEO: Get lots of links from reputable sites, pointing to your site. Buy them
if u have to. Include within your text, title tags and heading tags, the
keywords your customers might be searching for. Make each page unique and
targeted. Be more adventurous with your title tags. (Contact me off list if
u want more specific help with seo.)
