would each blog need a different look/feel? if not you could set her up with a wordpress blog, each client would get a restricted login only allowing them to add/edit/remove their own content. Set up a category for each client and bobs your mothers brother. The main page of the site would show the most recent overall posts, then the category naviagtion (which you could just rename to 'clients') would filter content to each individual clients mini-blog. Comments are part of the wordpress system so thats not an issue. I've a feeling theres a plug-in which allows you to change the theme for each category if you use wordpress 2, although I've never used it.
