"Proper" reseller hosting, would give each of your customers a distinct
web space, with their own log files, stats, private cgi-bin and even a
control panel for setting up mail etc..

The previous poster raised a good point about search engines and
forwarding - its not a good idea and isn't "true" hosting.

Choice of reseller will depend on the technology you use for your design
so yes Fasthosts might be ok for say Windows, ASP. net etc.. For Linux
(PHP, MySQL, Perl etc..) there is a much wider choice.

Many hosting companies use a "bought in" control panel for administering
accounts. The most popular is perhaps cPanel/WHM, followed by Plesk,
Ensim and Direct Admin.

One of the advantages of cPanel and Plesk is the ability to save time
installing popular scripts and applications (Fantastico, Application
Vault etc.) However the larger hosts such a Fasthosts, Webfusion,
Namesco, 1&1 tend to have their own "in house" control panels.

If search engine rankings are a factor and your customers are UK based
you might want to consider keeping the hosting local with a UK based IP
address. Hosting in the States is generally cheaper, but there will
obviously be slightly more latency.

One up from reseller hosting is "VPS" or "Virtual Private Server"
hosting which sits between cheap shared hosting and the more expensive
dedicated server hosting.

Most hosts will provide a VPS with a control panel pre-installed, so you
don't have to be a great technical guru.

The advantage of a VPS over standard reseller hosting is root/
administrator access to install your own software and tweaks, and more
security and isolation from other users on the box.

Some control panel demo's can be found here:
