I have to say I'm of the same opinion as you Chris. I came across moo.fx
recently and at first I was impressed by what they've done but as you
say so many people have it turned off these days that it can never
really been used as a major part of a site only ever as an add-on and
not even that if it doesn't degrade well

Just my thoughts.. interested to hear what others think
