Tough one that - having a to/from/message form does create a potential spammers delight. Making sure users are registered before being able to refer is a good step as I assume you'll be using CAPTCHA's at the registration stage which adds an obsticle at least.
What about a flash based referral form? can they be automatically manipulated by spammers in the same way as an HTML form can?
