FN-FORUM: Is it possible to host a website on two servers as a backup?

Good Afternoon,

A client of mine (with 1and1) has had major downtime, and is now
asking me whether its possible to host the site elsewhere as well, and
set up a system whereby if the site does go down, we can have it
point (using the same domain name) to the other hosting.
I would have thought not, given that where a domain name points to is
defined by the namesevers...
