I think Google places you geographically based on your TLD and where your site is hosted. I'd expect the TLD holds the greatest value, so if you want to appear in the 'uk' listings you really need a TLD thats uk based. If i remember rightly .info is non-specific in terms of location, much like .org and if anything Google will probably treat it as American.
Thats not to say you cant gain a UK listing with a .info, so long as you use 'UK' in your page titles (UK based, No.1 in the UK etc) and a few times within the text body of your site you should appear, it'll just be more of a struggle to get a good rank without a .co.uk
