I have to disagree
I have used osCommerce and found that the html pages with css work as you
wish them to. You use the STS template system they have to customise it.
Can't comment on Zen.

Hi,
I know what you mean - both ZenCart, and osCommerce (from which I believe
ZenCart is derived) are easy to install, but less so when it comes to
customisation. I am assuming that you have looked through the wiki for
ZenCart customisations at
http://www.zen-cart.com/wiki/index.php/Customisation?
When I first started looking at customising Zen Cart for my own needs, I too
felt a little overawed - it is a good product, but a big one to get your
head around. I looked for something simpler, and eventually found
www.freewebshop.org, which is an open source (?) shopping cart site in PHP
and MySQL. Granted, it won't be the same as the big boys, and may need a
little extra work to suit your needs, etc, but it may be worth a look - I am
working on the theory that it might be easier to build up, rather than strip
/ customise down - hoping that you see what I mean!
HTH,
Alex.

Subject: FN-FORUM: Ecommerce - Zen Cart - Customisation
Hello - I have looked for articles on customising layouts for Zen Cart
templates using css with limited success
I am sure this is a huge area - but can anyone with any experience suggest
sites or a book on the subject - I can get everything running and manipulate
the provided templates - but if I want to have any commercial application I
need to create my own layouts.
Or would anyone recommend I use a different program altogether? Are there
any superior paid solutions - actinic?
I don¹t mind a paid solution - I just want something that I can 'easily'
manipulate to incorporate another/pre-existing design - as some jobs coming
up are working for another graphic designer and working around her layouts
Thanks anyone
