FN-FORUM: GSpace - how safe is it?

I just had a bit of a scary experience. Having seen my friend use gspace at
the weekend I thought I'll have some of this. So I went to www.gspace.com
and downloaded their application (adding them to my trusted sites, after
firefox had initially blocked the download). The download installed. Then I
went to www.gspace.com again but the second time the browser was immediately
redirected to a porn site! Closing the brower down resulted in another porn
site opening (you get the picture? - we've all seen this wheeze before).
After all this was terminated I noticed that there was an entry in the
Mozilla menu at: Tools, GSpace which takes me to what looks like a proper
GSpace site which now wants my gmail email address and password. Is this
trustworthy. The URL for the GSpace entry is:
chrome://gspace/content/gspaceWindow.xul

Is that secure? I guess so but in view of what happened I thought I'd
check.
