I've found with infections like this it takes running HijackThis and then
working out what to delete, which is not for the faint-hearted. There
are various forums out there which specialise in helping people
work it out so I would recommend posting to one of those.

I don't know about that, but it would seem that you've made the
mistake of continuing to use IE for every day web browsing.

The rules of Spyware:
1. Don't use IE. Switch to Firefox or Opera.
2. Run HijackThis *before* you get a problem and rename the logfile with the
date.
3. Don't rely on anti-virus software. It's like relying on the airbags in
your car. Ideally you will never find out whether they work or not.
