This may be correct, but it is a little harsh. I have been using =20
Dreamhost for nearly two years and it doesn't compromise anything I =20
need to do. I can host websites written in Java, PHP and RoR, fronting =20=
MySQL (or any other suitable database if I want to install it myself).
I can also use one-click installs to run WordPress, Joomla, phpBB, =20
ZenCart, Moodle, dotProject, MediaWiki and various other services on =20
any of my domains. If I want to take the trouble to do it myself =20
(since I have shell access) I can also install most other webapps that =20=
would interest me.
The service is reliable and on the rare occasions I've had to ask for =20=
help, responsive, polite and competent (what a contrast with 123-reg).
This costs me a touch over =A350 a year. Actually, it costs me less =20
because my affiliate arrangement with them (every subscriber gets one =20=
of these BTW) means that I get a credit on my account when someone =20
signs up on my recommendation. So actually next year my hosting costs =20=
will be zip, nada, zero.
Frankly I am amazed that more people don't use Dreamhost.
Ian.
