Re: FN-FORUM: Websites for the disabled

This all seems very airy-fairy stuff to me. We all know how to make our
websites accessible to the blind, the deaf, the colour blind. I can
imagine however that there is some poor sod out there who cant see nor
hear nor move his arms and legs and communicates via the sense of smell.
If "accessible" means that anyone can use the website then all sites
fail. If "accessible" means that we've done what we can then we have
moving goal posts as technology changes and we all get to play catch up.
Thinking about it, that's probably where we are.
How do I prove accessibility anyway? The WCAG v1 is out of date and
nonsensical in some places now, WCAGv2 is heavily flawed for other
reasons, I'd be surprised if anyone correctly claimed ATAG (v1 or 2)
compliance. Despite this, even If you do follow WCAG are you guaranteed
an accessible site? Not at all, there are a number of mental
disabilities that imply all our images should have a clear purpose
rather than just "look nice" but you wont find that in the WCAG.
